Against my husband's better judgement, I'm starting to part time cloth diaper our almost 10 month old daughter. We rent and don't have access to a washer and dryer often enough, so we (I) will be hand washing and air drying. I have opted to use flats and prefolds, and covers over top. I have to thank my friend Amanda O'Connor for sending me my "starter package" of fluff!
My goal is to get enough supplies to allow for a wash every other day. This will require 24 or more prefolds/flats, 7-9 covers, wet bags, detergent, bucket and plunger for washing.
So far I've got 5 flats, 2 prefolds, 5 covers, 3 wet bags, 3 samples of detergent. I've got a long way to go. So I'm opting to wash as I change and hang in the windows.
Day 1 consisted of traveling in a flat folded into a trifold size to my father-in-law's house about 40 minutes away. We had a poop, naturally. She seems to be very very comfortable in her fluff. So, into the wet bag goes the flat and the Thirsties cover after a quick rinse. Next comes a prefold folded trifold (I have hit my quota of the use of the word fold lol) covered by a Bummis Super Brite Wrap. Success!! This cover has the double gusset that holds things in but still allows movement. So far this is my favorite cover! One more change before leaving and home we go. Made it home with no leaks! I decided to do my wash with what I'd brought home. 2 covers, 2 flats and a prefold.
The scream queen demands food. I'll end my first post here :)
